Town Board Special Meeting

December 17, 2024

Attendance:

Supervisor Richard E Tompkins

Councilperson Scott Tuttle

Councilperson James Garraghan

Councilperson John Mattice

Town Clerk Dawn Thorp

Absent: Councilperson Jeff Gonzalez

No one was in attendance.

 

1]Supervisor Tompkins opened the meeting at 7:35pm with the pledge to the American Flag. Patty our cleaner has decided to step down. She has cleaned for us quite a few years. A person has applied.

2] Dolores Brandon – applied for the cleaning of the entire Town Hall and additional fee for the Fire Department, if they want cleaning. After discussion of the board members Councilperson James Garraghan mention Kym & Larissa Langdon is interested, was not aware a new cleaner was needed.

 

A motion by Councilperson Scott Tuttle, seconded by Council person John Mattice to table a cleaner of until others have the option to give us a quote Councilperson Garraghan Jim will contact Kym & Larrissa Langdon- all in favor.

3] Building Inspector Appointment: Don Schoenborn-if he is appointed, he has stated he prefers emails from contractors or people needing his help. He will have set office hours on Thursdays 10am to 12noon.

Motion to approve Donald Schoenborn as building inspector by Councilperson Scott Tuttle, seconded by Councilperson James Garraghan, motion; Adopted: 4 Aye Tompkins-Tuttle- Mattice- Garraghan   Nay 0   Absent 1 Gonzalez

4] Complaint of Garbage on County Route 4- The board had decided not to get involved, as it is not an issue we can address at this time.

Motion by Councilperson James Garraghan, seconded by Councilperson John Mattice to not be involved, motion; Adopted: 4 Aye Tompkins-Tuttle- Mattice- Garraghan   Nay 0   Absent 1 Gonzalez

5] Change work order: the testing on piping they believe will be two days, not sure maybe three, it will cost another $1200. For this change.

Motion by Councilperson James Garraghan, seconded by Councilperson John Mattice to approve the testing needed, motion; Adopted: 4 Aye Tompkins-Tuttle- Mattice- Garraghan   Nay 0   Absent 1 Gonzalez

The Supervisor asked the board if they would agree to use the ARPA funds for the Flag Pole, time has gotten by and the prices found were extremely high, with the boards permission to sign the agreement for the flag pole at the best price.

Motion by James Garraghan, seconded by John Mattice for Supervisor Tompkins to go ahead with the purchase of the flag pole at the best price, motion; Adopted: 4 Aye Tuttle- Mattice- Garraghan -Tompkins Nay 0   Absent 1 Gonzalez

6] Ambulance Contract with Prattsville: The Supervisor stated Prattville’s lawyer has an issue with wording. To date we do not have a contract with Prattsville for our Ambulance Service, which means Ashland is paying for their calls. Supervisor Tompkins stated he had a good meeting with Supervisor Cross, so we will see. The board discussed, they do not understand why we are more concerned about coverage for the people in Prattsville than their board. Lexington did not have an issue with the contract and we have a signed contract with them.

 

Motion by Councilperson James Garraghan, seconded by Councilperson John Mattice to close at 8:16pm, motion carried.
