Supervisor Richard Tompkins opened the meeting at 7:35 pm.

LETTER OF RESIGNATION-MARLENE BURGESS
A letter of resignation was received by the Town Clerk on April 26, 2010, for health reasons Marlene M Burgess must resign with regret.

AMBULANCE GRANT
MOTION-A motion was made by Councilman James Lawrence to move forward and get two ambulance quotes to complete the grant for the new Ambulance, seconded by Councilman Dennis Mattice, motion was:

BRUCE KNOX
Bruce told the board that he had called Congressman Murphy about money for the purchase of the property next to the town hall, Supervisor Tompkins once again stressed to Mr. Knox not to call and that we should wait until we are able to make final decisions and then approach the appropriate people and try to get some help.

MOTION-A motion was made by Councilman Martin Blanden to go into executive session at 7:55 pm for the purpose of discussing a potential real estate purchase, seconded by Councilman James Lawrence, motion was:

TOWN BOARD RESOLUTION OF 2010
MAY 10, 2010
RESOLUTION TO ACQUIRE LAND
At the Town Board meeting on May 10, 2010, Councilman, Richard E. Tompkins
offered the following resolution and moved its adoption.
WHEREAS; the Town Board of the Town of Ashland, upon the recommendation of the Town Supervisor and Engineer for the Town hereby determines that it is necessary and in the public interest and purpose to rebuild the Town Hall following a fire, and
WHEREAS; in order to rebuild the Town Hall in the size and manner appropriate for the public need and use in the Town, the Town of Ashland must acquire certain real property located at 12088 Route 23, Ashland, NY and adjacent to the old Town Hall site, and
WHEREAS; the owner of such real property has offered to sell same to the Town of Ashland; and
WHEREAS; the Town has determined that the fair market value of such real property is $129,000 (One Hundred and Twenty-Nine Thousand Dollars).
NOW, THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED; that the Town Supervisor is hereby authorized to execute any such documents necessary to complete the acquisition of such land for a sum not to exceed $129,000.00 (One Hundred and Twenty-Nine Thousand Dollars) to be expended from the Town of Ashland’s general fund, and it is further
RESOLVED; that the foregoing Resolution is adopted subject to a permissive referendum in accordance with the requirements of the NYS Town Law 64 (2) and (2-a), and it is further
RESOLVED; that the foregoing resolution shall become effective without action of the Town Board on the 10th day of June in the year 2010 unless a petition requesting that a Referendum thereon be submitted to voters in the manner required by law.
A motion to adopt this resolution was made by Councilman, Thomas Soule and seconded by Councilman, Dennis Mattice. Motion Carried.

TOWN HALL DISCUSSION
The board needs to get together with the insurance adjuster and go over the foundation, Supervisor Richard Tompkins is going to get in touch with Town Attorney Tal Rappleyea, and Councilman Thomas Soule and Councilman Dennis Mattice will be the ones that are going to meet; they need to find out how much the old building is worth with upgrades.
